The Mathematics and Applied Statistics department of University of Wollongong is offering an APA(I) scholarship to a full time candidate, wishing to enrol in a PhD program, starting in February 2008. The stipend for this award is $31,118 per annum for three years (tax exempt), subject to satisfactory progress. The successful candidate will be involved in the development of a new non-linear wave hydrodynamic numerical model to study wave refraction and diffraction near an Oscillating Water Column device used to convert ocean wave energy to electricity or to desalinate seawater.

This project will be carried out in close collaboration with Oceanlinx, one of the leading wave energy companies in the world, and represents an exciting program of training for a mathematician, engineer or scientist wishing to enter the rapidly expanding field of Marine Renewable Energy systems

The subject of study is Ocean Wave Modelling & Marine Renewable Energy Systems. Scholarship level: Post Graduate. The scholarship is to study in Australia for those who have achieved Honours 2a or equivalent and only eligible for Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia.

The stippend would be AUD31118 (maximum per annum). This award is to be used for living expenses. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 3 years.

This scholarship is offered once only to one person. Open for applications until December 31, 2007. The research field should be Mathematical Science. It is required that your study starts no later than February 25, 2008.
