Scuola di Dottorato in Economia “Vilfredo Pareto” was established in June 2006 as the doctoral program in Economics of the University of Turin.
Scholarships (approximately euro 11000 per year, renewable for three years) are available. For the class entering in 2006-07, up to 9 scholarships will be awarded for enrolment in the SE section, up to 6 for ECC enrolment, up to 4 for SMA enrolment.
Sections of the School will be based on existing doctoral programs:
- Dottorato in Scienze Economiche (Economics: SE)
- Dottorato in Economia della Complessita e della Creatività (Economics of Complexity and Creativity: ECC)
- Dottorato in Decisioni Economiche Attuariali e Finanziarie - Statistica e Matematica Applicata (Statistics and Applied Mathematics: SMA)

Applications should specify the section(s) of interest but the admissions procedure will be run at the level of the School and will result in offers of admission to one or more of the three sections.
Foreigners (”non-residenti”) may be accepted without examination if their curriculum includes a Master`s degree in Economics or related quantitative or social sciences, or is otherwise outstanding.
For all other candidates there will be a written exam on November 2, followed by an oral exam on November 3.To do well on the exam, candidates should be familiar with Microeconomics at the level of Katz and Rosen, Microeconomics, or Varian, Intermediate Microeconomics; with Macroeconomics at the level of Burda and Wyplosz, Macroeconomics, or Blanchard, Macroeconomics; with mathematical and statistical tools at the level of Chiang, Fundamental Methods of Mathematical Economics, Wonnacott and Wonnacott, Introductory Statistics.
