Germany. Several scholarships are awarded for German and International Students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate studies in Germany. These scholarships are provided by the Heinrich Böll Foundation.
Applicants seeking to receive a scholarships for their studies must be matriculated at a state or state-recognized university or college in Germany. At the time they join the scholarship program, they may not have exceeded the maximum number of semesters prescribed for their respective course of study and they should still have at least three semesters of studies ahead of them before achieving their degree. Funding for one-year study programs is not possible.
When submitting your application, please observe the following requirements:
- Those applying for a Bachelor’s course, Diploma or Magister course or a state examination must, at the time of application, have completed their first semester of studies.
- Those applying for a Master’s course or other postgraduate studies are advised to submit their application to the Scholarship Department before the start of the postgraduate course; the proof of matriculation in the respective course can be handed in later, it must, however, be submitted at the beginning of the scholarship at the latest. Applicants must furnish evidence of having completed their undergraduate studies (Bachelor’s degree, Diploma, Magister, State Examination) and should provide specific details as to how the content of such a course of study builds on their undergraduate studies and how it is linked to the applicant’s intended profession. If, at the time of application, the diploma of the undergraduate study course cannot be presented yet, all courses with their credit points must be enlisted; the diploma can be handed in at a later stage, it must, however, be submitted at the beginning of the scholarship.
- No tuition fees will be assumed for courses of study that are liable to costs.
Application Procedure
The application procedure is divided into three stages:
- Submitting a brief application (see below for “application documents†to be submitted).
- Submitting a detailed application; interview with a liaison lecturer of the Heinrich Boell Foundation/his or her written assessment.
- Workshop with individual interview and group discussion.
Following each application stage only a small group of applicants will be selected that will be considered for the next round. About 10 to 20 % of all applicants will be asked to submit a detailed application.
