UK. Several PhD studentships are available for students pursuing PhD study within The Plasma Physics Research Group, Physics Department, Faculty of Physical Sciences. Each year the group accept 6-7 postgraduate students for their 3 years PhD course.
Registration is normally at the start of October, to coincide with the PG lecture course which runs throughout the first year. However under special circumstances entry can be delayed.
The Ph.D. course (no M.Sc.) lasts for three years. Postgraduate Plasma Physics lectures are on one day per week during term time of your first year.
You are initially registered for M.Phil, then transferred to a Ph.D. at the end of your first year. To transfer successfully you are required to:
Writing up time is now severely limited, and you are expected to submit the thesis in a maximum of four years, but ideally in three.

Qualification (normally): Good physics degree (1st or 2(i) of 65% or over) or MSc.
