UK. Two postdoctoral positions (Clinician Scientist) are currently offered by The UCL Institute of Child Health (ICH) and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust (GOSH). These are 4 years positions enabling the appointees to achieve independent research team-leader status.

The scheme provides full funding for 4 years plus up to £15,000 start-up costs. Ideally candidates should have around two years of full-time clinical training left and all candidates are expected to have secured or be eligible for an NTN in the national competition.Candidates should also have completed a PhD/DPhil (exceptionally, an MD qualification may be considered) prior to taking up an award.

The positions will be supernumerary to existing SpR/ST rotations and offer a flexible programme of training integrated with protected research time. Candidates must have a proven track record of achievement, particularly in a research area relevant to the 3 themes stated above, and must demonstrate the potential and commitment to become leaders in UK academic paediatric research.

Appointments will be made in conjunction with the Academy of Medical Sciences who will appoint external mentors to advise awardees on career progression. The positions are applicable to physicians.
